About the Blue History Network
This collective is open to historians coming from any subfield of the discipline. Whoever shares a scholarly interest in exploring how water intercepts and flows through historical research is mostly welcome.
Our goal is to read complex historical processes, including cultural and societal developments, political and economic dynamics, through the lens of water. We started as a small group of historians of the United States based between Leiden University and the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies in Middelburg, the Netherlands. But our ambition is to move beyond our expertise and positionality. That’s why the network remains wide open.
